Renewable Waste-To-Energy (WTE) power plant
Cologna Veneta, Italy
2005
The project owner receives a tipping fee for the incoming waste fuel and has a contract to sell the power generated from the gasification of the RDF to one of Italy’s largest electric utilities. This system uses 300 tons per day of RDF that was going into a landfill and produces up to six megawatts of electricity, (enough electricity for 6,000 homes). The system is well under the European Unions Emission Standards, which are some of the toughest in the world.

Waste-To-Energy Project
Savannah River Site
2002
The Three Rivers Solid Waste Authority has built a Renewable Energy Technology showcase at the DOE’s Savannah River Site.
FREE’s MSW separation system is the centerpiece of this facility. The system produces fuel that is used in an existing industrial boiler on site to generate steam.
Waste-To-Fuel Project
FREE Reedy Creek Improvement District
1997
FREE, LLC owned and operated the Solid Waste Energy Recycling Facility SWERF on property at the largest theme park in Orlando, FL. This facility received waste generated at the four theme parks, 20,000 hotel rooms, six shopping centers, residential area and night life attractions. One hundred and fifty tons per day of MSW were delivered with a tipping fee to the facility. The MSW was processed for the removal of Recyclable materials and the production of a clean RDF that was sold to Electric Companies and blended with coal to produce electricity. This facility diverted over ninety percent of the waste generated from the landfill for the same cost as land filling.
